If you ask Ryan:
May 2020 - Ryan was working on a tiny mine site in Southern Cross. Alysia was the HR Manager (that was not too bad on the eye) and was there for a site visit. After a long day, Ryan offered Alysia a warm bush chook. When Alysia accepted the "Kimberly Cool" can of courage he knew he had found the one.
Thank you bush chook for bringing us together.
If you ask Alysia:
Walshy was the elusive contractor on site that I heard so much of in the Perth office. Stories about him being this top gun diesel mechanic to having his motorbikes stolen from site. Who was this little rebel?
My first site visit to Southern Cross, rocking up at a tiny site with a house for an office, I was both over and underwhelmed. I attempted to meet everyone at the donga camp behind the Southern Cross Hotel after a long day. I really didn't know anyone nor did I know who handed me a warm beer.
A few months down the track my dad was driving trucks on the same mine site, it was Ryan who fixed his truck and made sure my wog of a father had his daily cappuccino. Ryan ended up becoming mates with my old boy, having my dad specifically requesting for "Valshy" for every issue he had on site.
Little did I know that the universe would keep putting Ryan in my path, whether it was in my office, at a different mine site, sneaking him a scotch I bought for the project manager or him fixing the number plate on a car I borrowed for a road trip.
It wasn't until we had a random facetime on Christmas morning in 2020 did it actually click. We didn't stop talking daily from that day onwards. Since then we have gone through some challenges, a whole lot of growth and have had so much fun along the way. Emi and I are so smitten with our Rynny, I'm so grateful for having this larrikin in our lives.
